Through all the fall fun including football tailgating, MLB playoffs, pumpkin and apple flavored treats and Halloween, don't forget about National Breast Cancer Awareness month. In addition to the gorgeous colors of fall and the black and orange of Halloween, many things turn pink in October to help support this worthy cause. Last October I posted a blog fittingly titled Pink-tober. I'd like to continue that this year as I am starting to see pink things pop up on my Facebook newsfeed and around town.
If you haven't heard of Purda Vida, they are these awesome bracelets that have become big recently. Check out their website and read their story. They support a lot of great causes including Breast Cancer Awareness. Right now they are donating $10 of every purchase of their Breast Cancer Pack which is a beautiful pink collection.
This one is super simple for everyone to participate in. The Color Run, which I had an amazing time participating in this year, is donating $1 for every new "like" they get on Facebook during the month of October. All you have to do is go to The Color Run Facebook Page and click "like." Then spread the word to your friends so they can get lots of likes! If you haven't heard of this fun 5K, you'll want to get their updates so maybe you can participate yourself next year!
As always, the NFL does a huge breast cancer awareness campaign during the month of October. I love seeing all the players done pink cleats, towels, armbands, etc. I'll be rocking my pink Redskins shirt on Sundays this month. Get your own PINK NFL GEAR here.
Love RGIII's style!
I don't personally drink 5 hour energy but I've been seeing their commercials and love that they have a new Pink Lemonade Flavor that's all about joining the fight against breast cancer. They'll be donating 5 cents of every bottle purchase through December! If you drink this, check out their new flavor to do your part!
A local hospital in my area is doing something called "The Pink Sock Promise," my work will be participating on October 24. Join in! Read below.
The Pink Sock Promise seeks to raise public awareness about breast cancer and its detection, so that tumors are discovered at an earlier, more treatable stage.
MAKE THE PROMISE
Make the promise to wear a pink sock on Wednesday, Oct., 24, symbolizing your commitment to conduting breast self-exams and scheduling breast screenings regularly.
WHY ONE SOCK?
Mismatched socks can be a fashion faux pas, but to some it's a trendy way to express style. This campaign is banking on that experience. Imagine going to work, the grocery store, the mall, or the bank wearing one pink sock. It's likely that a friend or co-worker will notice your one pink sock -- a perfect opportunity to explain that you've made a promise to have regularly scheduled mammograms and clinical breast exams conducted by a physician.

October is officially over but you can still support the cause year round. Lauren Conrad and Kohl's just launched a new collection in conjunction with LC's line. All the proceeds will be donated to the cause! Check it out here.
