7 Days of Shamrocks: Day 4

For day four of my 7 Days of Shamrocks, I went to my old faithful hurricane centerpiece. If you follow my blog, I'm sure you've seen my hurricane centerpiece which I have updated for various themes and holidays including fall, winter, Valentine's Day, Red Carpet Award Shows and Mardi Gras. For instructions on how to make the actual hurricane vase, click on my fall or winter blog.

For this one, I added large foam shamrocks in between the candle and vase. I'm not sure I love it but it's a little different than other things I've tried with it. It's good to mix it up every once in a while and I think it looks cute still.

Red Carpet Hurricane Centerpiece

If you follow my blog, I'm sure you've seen my my hurricane centerpiece which I have updated for various themes and holidays including fall, winter, Valentine's Day and Mardi Gras. Since I was going all out with an Oscar Worthy Bash for the Academy Awards this year, I decided to incorporate my famous fixture into the decorations by giving it a red carpet makeover. Click on fall or winter above to see how to make the basic hurricane centerpiece. Once you have that, you are free to update it to fit whatever theme or holiday comes upon you! To make mine red carpet ready, I simply used red and gold filler mixed with movie themed confetti. The movie confetti included gold stars, white movie tickets, black film reels, etc.

7 Days of Mardi Gras: Day 2

For day two of my 7 Days of Mardi Gras, it was time to update my go to hurricane centerpiece. I started with fall leaves, then snowflakes for winter, then candy hearts for Valentine's Day. See either the fall or winter blog for instructions.

My initial idea for Mardi Gras was to simply add beads. Since I already made the bead wreath, I ended up wanting to mix it up a little more. I got a pack of green, gold and purple coins and filled it with those first. I then added one strand of each color beads on top. For a fun addition, the gold beads I used were Southern Comfort beads so they had the logo on them, I think it turned out great!

14 Days of Valentines: Day 2

For day two of my 14 Days of Valentines, I updated my hurricane centerpiece to make it heart themed. I love the look of conversation hearts in a vase so I went with that. See my fall centerpiece and my winter centerpiece for instructions on how to make your own hurricane vase using dollar store items.

Once you have the hurricane vase and candle, all you need to do is fill the surrounding area with something that matches your theme. Whether you're using it for a holiday or for a themed party, the ideas are limitless!

I love the way the conversation hearts look in the vase for Valentine's Day! With all the candy dust, I know I will need to give it a good wash before the next holiday but it's worth it.

Remember you can always take the candle out if you want to use larger filler and just have a vase!
