31 Days of Halloween: Day 25

For day 25 of my 31 Days of Halloween, I wanted to share a recipe for Goblin Mimosas that I found on PartyCity.com and my friend got the ingredients to make at her Halloween party last weekend.

Ingredients:
Olives or blueberries
Bamboo skewers
Candy eyeballs
Orange juice
Black vodka or dark rum

Step 1: Skew two blueberries or olives on each skewer and place the candy eyeballs in the centers, set aside.

Step 2: Fill a champagne flute halfway with orange juice.

Step 3: Add liquor to the orange juice. Make sure to pour slowly over the back of a spoon so that it runs down the side of the glass to keep the liquids from mixing.

Step 4: Set skewer with eyeballs on top of champagne flute

These turned out super cute and were delicious. We used dark rum because we couldn't find black vodka and we used black olives for the eyeballs.

Fall Bucket List Update

I've been so busy with my 31 Days of Halloween that I haven't made much progress on my Fall Bucket List. While Halloween is celebrated throughout October, luckily I have through November to celebrate fall as a whole! I've been able to officially check two things off my list, drinking fancy coffee drinks (which I do often with DD and Starbucks trips) and baking a pie. While I don't have pictures of either, I can assure you these have both been done, and most likely will be done again before fall is over. I'll add pictures if I do remember to catch the moments next time around. I've had plans pretty much every weekend since fall started which has made it hard to do some of the things on the list. I need a free Saturday or Sunday during the day to go on a picnic, take a nature walk, apple picking, etc. Hopefully I'll get the chance soon. Stay tuned...

I Live for Quotes: Haters Gonna Hate!

"We're flawed -– we're human beings and sometimes you make choices that other people are going to judge. That's their problem, but I think that the more I live my life, the more I learn not to judge people for what they do. I think we're all trying our best, but life is complicated." - Gwyneth Paltrow

"Most haters are stuck in a poisonous mental prison of jealousy and self-doubt that blinds them to their own potentiality."

31 Days of Halloween: Day 24

For day twenty-four of my 31 Days of Halloween, I whipped up a batch of pumpkin fluff dip.

Ingredients:
16 oz of Cool Whip
5 oz package of instant vanilla pudding mix (I accidentally only bought a 1 oz packet but it still worked fine)
15 oz canned pumpkin
1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice

Step 1: Mix up the pudding mix, canned pumpkin and pumpkin pie spice in a bowl (or in my case a witch cauldron)

Step 2: Fold in Cool Whip until it's all mixed up.

Step 3: Serve with cookies or fruit. I chose ginger snaps!

31 Days of Halloween: Day 23

For day twenty-three of my 31 Days of Halloween, I wanted to give making these adorable skeleton trophies a chance.

Supplies Needed:
Dollar store skeletons (I bought a skeleton garland that came with 4 on it for $1)
Hot glue and tacky glue
Silver or gold metallic spray paint
Small circle or oval wooden discs (29 cents each at Michael's craft store)
Paper and markers (if you can find metallic scrapbook paper that would be best, I spray painted my white paper and it was hard to write on with the sharpie)

Step 1: Untie or cut the skeletons off of the garland.

Step 2: Glue the skeleton's feet to the wooden base.

Step 3: Spray paint the entire skeleton with your metallic spray paint. If you don't have matching paper, spray paint a piece of card stock to match the rest of the trophy.

Step 4: Once dry, add write labels such as "Best Couple" or "Most Creative" to each skeleton. For "Best Couple" I put two skeleton's together. I was only able to make 3 awards with the one garland I bought. Ideally, I'd buy a few garlands and make multiple categories. I glued the labels onto the bottom of the trophies with tacky glue. You can also make the labels into sashes and glue them to the skeleton's body instead of the base. I've also seen fun touches such as a clown nose on "Funniest" or a feather boa on "Sexiest" Plain or with the special touches, these guys are super cute in my opinion!

31 Days of Halloween: Day 22

For day twenty-two of my 31 Days of Halloween, I have another cute favor idea. These are Halloween s'mores.

Ingredients:
Graham crackers
Ghost and jack-o-lantern Peeps
Hershey miniature candy bars
Cellophane bags
Ribbon

To make these, just add a graham cracker, a mini Hershey bar and a ghost Peep (or two jack-o-lantern Peeps since they are smaller) in a clear cellophane bag and tie with a ribbon. These look super cute and to make the s'mores, just put everything together and pop in the microwave for 30 seconds! Or if you have a bonfire, make them the real way.

31 Days of Halloween: Day 21

For day twenty-one of my 31 Days of Halloween, I made these cute little skeleton favors.

Ingredients:
Brownies
White chocolate covered pretzels (I used Flipz)
Marshmallows
Black edible marker
Lollipop sticks
Cellophane bags
Ribbon to tie

Step 1: Bake up a batch of brownies. I accidentally bought the wrong size box (I needed the 13x9 family size for my pan) so mine were very thin.

Step 2: Once the brownies are cool, cut them into squares and place one in each cellophane bag.

Step 3: I broke the lollipop sticks in half and stuck half a lollipop stick in each brownie.

Step 4: Stack white chocolate pretzels on the lollipop stick. I used 6 for each one.

Step 5: Draw a face on the marshmallow with an edible marker and stick the marshmallow on top of the lollipop stick.

Step 6: Tie with a ribbon and you're done!

These make a cute party favor.  They look adorable displayed in a fun Halloween bowl.
